Strength & conditioning
Strength & Conditioning:-Strength & Conditioning is a vital part of a players long term athletic development,it helps them get stronger to put more body weight into the shot but also helps injury prevention and recovery. Tennis is a physical game where generally the strongest, fastest, fittest and most powerful athlete wins. The Spanish understand that if they build superior athletes who are more agile, quicker, can run longer without getting tired, and stay injury free, they can develop, these athletes into world class tennis players. In other countries, building tennis players seems to be the main focus not building athletes. By building athletes first, and tennis players second, countries such as Spain has figured out the formula for maximising the performance of the talent pool they have in their system. This also helps with the more racket head speed you put on the ball the more the ball will kick back into the court keeping the opponent in defensive position and out of hitting zone, this all begins with strength and conditioning.

ExercisesSome of the exercises we do at the academy include:- resistance cord training, medicine ball work, versa pulley and pulley work, wind exercises with racquet and weighted racquet or etch swing type device, long distance running once or twice a week to develop stamina and mental toughness, circuits through mountains and up steep hills to strengthen and toughen the mind and body.
"Very few Spanish players are really tall and so not many of them can serve at over 200km an hour all the time so they have to work really hard from the back of the court and be in great condition. Before players would spend 90% of the time hitting balls and then maybe go for a run or bike, whereas now their training is based 50% tennis and 50% conditioning, that's how important it has become".
